I painted this large scale oil based upon a feeling - like much of my art work. Have you ever been out for a vigorous sail? Or dreamed of doing so? Imagine yourself dashing from Hyannis to Nantucket in that famed Memorial Day race, or maybe its you and your friend crashing through the waves on an ordinary day, racing to make home before the sun sets. The setting sun colors the sky as the light fades. The sails clap and snap as they fill with wind. “She cuts through the swell like an arrow in flight her tall sails catching the winds full might.” Somewhere off in the distance you hear the clang of a booie. Even if you have never experienced this magic of keel and compass, this painting can take you there and make you feel like you have!
